New York dub spinster DJ Logic brought festival goers to their knees with his unrelenting Jazz/Dance mixes this past Saturday at the Winnipeg Folk Fest. I had a blast shooting and dancing with the folkies in the grass. Check out Logic’s MySpace, though it really doesn’t come close to comparing to his live show.

Last Wednesday after our soundcheck at Augusta House in Toronto, I was walking down the street with The Lytics and we noticed that the area had a real Brazilian slums sort of feel to it. Apparently it’s actually a super laid back area full of hippies and stores that sell pot. Either way, this building’s got some character!

Yesterday I had the absolute pleasure of sitting down with two of the most talented and amazing people on this planet; Emily Haines and Jimmy Shaw, also known as [two parts of] Metric.

Both Emily and Jimmy were gracious and lighthearted; and, despite their very real time constraints, they were kind enough to give me a half hour of their life.

These are some shots during and after the interview I did for Pop Zap (which should be up in a few days). The stiff on the right of the second photo nervously gripping his notepad is yours truly. Special thanks to Fra for helping me out with camera duties.

I’ll post the review and interview links asap, as well as some shots from the acoustic performance. I’ll also go on record now and say it was stunning.

It was really nice out last night so I decided to go for a walk in Saint Boniface. That’s where I found the good ol’ Nicolett Inn. I wish all things still looked like this — fire escape et all. I’ll post more photos from my walk later (not of the Nicolett though, I got scared and walked over to the old town hall).

P.S. I love the people at Le Garage.

I went over to Gavin’s (aka DJ Action Rick of The Lytics fame) yesterday to do a mini-shoot and we decided to get his fat-cat involved.

The idea was to get her to paw at the headphone cord like it was a ball of yarn, but she was having none of it (see: above). I think it’s actually funnier this way, but for Gavin’s sake, I sure hope she’s de-clawed! (Not really, that’s kind of cruel.)

I picked up this gorgeous Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L USM Standard Zoom Lens for a shoot I’m doing tomorrow with Toronto based (but from good ol’ Winnipeg) DJ Dougie B.

This bad boy weighs in at four pounds; better do some neck-xercises (see what I did there?) before heading out tomorrow! I’m pretty excited for this shoot, DB has some really cool ideas in mind… Stay tuned!

It was pretty nice out today so my pup and I went in the backyard for a little photo shoot with the snow before it all melts (again). Don’t let her poses fool you, this 13 year old Keeshond is very high maintenance.
