"James and The Strips" @ Degrees Diner at UoM,...
James Struthers (guitar, vocals) and his makeshift backing band, Greg Arcace (guitar), Rilo Hastings (bass), and the most erotic drummer on the planet, Shoniqua Jones (a.k.a. me!). The fine folks that made the poster for this event forgot that “stripes” has an “E” in it, so we became The Strips that evening. A UoM student that can’t spell? Surprise, surprise!

DJ Logic @ Winnipeg Folk Fest, 07/11/09
New York dub spinster DJ Logic brought festival goers to their knees with his unrelenting Jazz/Dance mixes this past Saturday at the Winnipeg Folk Fest. I had a blast shooting and dancing with the folkies in the grass. Check out Logic’s MySpace, though it really doesn’t come close to comparing to his live show.

Jenny Lewis does her take on 60s spy movies in the video for “See Fernando.”
I’m so in love with Jenny Lewis it’s absurd. To think that I still have a crush on my first crush 20 years later. My goodness.
Xavier Rudd & I
I had the great pleasure of interviewing Australian/Candian hybrid Xavier Rudd this past weekend at the Winnipeg Folk Festival. The man is incredible to behold and truly awe inspiring in his mindset and mentalities. Enjoy the tune above and look for the article coming soon on Pop Zap. (Thanks to Jasmine for shooting the interview!)

Augusta
Last Wednesday after our soundcheck at Augusta House in Toronto, I was walking down the street with The Lytics and we noticed that the area had a real Brazilian slums sort of feel to it. Apparently it’s actually a super laid back area full of hippies and stores that sell pot. Either way, this building’s got some character!

Metric
Yesterday I had the absolute pleasure of sitting down with two of the most talented and amazing people on this planet; Emily Haines and Jimmy Shaw, also known as [two parts of] Metric.
Both Emily and Jimmy were gracious and lighthearted; and, despite their very real time constraints, they were kind enough to give me a half hour of their life.
These are some shots during and after the...
DJ Action Rick
Here’s the rest of the shots from yesterday with Gavin — sans chat. Considering the confined space, limited time and circumstances, I’m pretty happy with how these came out.
Look at that handsome mammajamma!
Here Kitty Kitty
I went over to Gavin’s (aka DJ Action Rick of The Lytics fame) yesterday to do a mini-shoot and we decided to get his fat-cat involved.
The idea was to get her to paw at the headphone cord like it was a ball of yarn, but she was having none of it (see: above). I think it’s actually funnier this way, but for Gavin’s sake, I sure hope she’s de-clawed! (Not really,...
Yum
I picked up this gorgeous Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L USM Standard Zoom Lens for a shoot I’m doing tomorrow with Toronto based (but from good ol’ Winnipeg) DJ Dougie B.
This bad boy weighs in at four pounds; better do some neck-xercises (see what I did there?) before heading out tomorrow! I’m pretty excited for this shoot, DB has some really cool ideas in mind… Stay tuned!

Patches
It was pretty nice out today so my pup and I went in the backyard for a little photo shoot with the snow before it all melts (again). Don’t let her poses fool you, this 13 year old Keeshond is very high maintenance.

Kay Pea - take 2
Well that’s about a million times better than my first attempt! Funny how much having a good monitor can help! Enjoy!
Appleton & Sprite
Photo from the summer of my buddy Myron. Purely candid — we were out for drinks one night and I risked bringing the cam with me. Zenon played around with it in Lightroom this past weekend inspiring me to work on it and get it up here. Please let me know what you think!
Miss Aniela: Photography →
I’m really digging this girl’s photography. She’s been featured in a few exhibits and does some really cool work with cloning and other clever creations.
She is also the model in all of her photos, and a fine model at that! Well done, Miss Aniela!

New Logo! [Updated]
[The final version!] [Gator flavoured candy coming soon to a store near you!]
My incredibly talented designer Sanya (who also did the Pop Zap logo and header), has proven once again just how much of an asset she is to me. Here is her first stab at the Sugar Gator logo, and to be honest, I don’t see how she could make it any better [edit: she DID make things better, wow!]. It really is...

The Lytics interview in the Winnipeg Sun
“Bringing positivity & humility to the rap game”
A fun little Q&A with The Lytics. This can also be found in the Entertainment section of today’s Winnipeg Sun. Click on the image for a hi-res (printable) version and check out the interview on the Winnipeg Sun’s website.
